# Installation

> Invite the music bot and grant only the Discord permissions it needs to join and play in voice channels.

## Add the bot

The official invite uses the Headless Music application and requests the `bot` and `applications.commands` scopes. Verify the application name before approving.

[Invite Headless Music](https://discord.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=1542317635193274528\&permissions=2218118208\&integration_type=0\&scope=bot+applications.commands)

## Voice permissions

Headless Music needs View Channel, Connect, and Speak in each voice channel it should access. Members also need permission to view and join their channel.

> **View Channel**
>
> Read the selected channel and the invoking member's voice context.

> **Connect**
>
> Join the channel when playback starts or `/connect` is run.

> **Speak**
>
> Send audio into the connected voice channel.

> **Application Commands**
>
> Register and display the slash-command interface.

## Server settings

`/247`, `/announce`, `/buttons`, and `/customize` require Manage Server according to their registered definitions. Playback and queue access do not require granting that permission to every member.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Verify the bot's effective permissions in the channels you will use; do not grant Administrator as a shortcut.
