# Audio Architecture

> Understand which parts of a session Headless Music manages and which belong to Lavalink and optional providers.

## Discord and Headless Music

Discord carries commands, voice context, player messages, and permission checks. Headless Music maintains each server's queue and preferences.

## Lavalink

Audio loading, resolution, and streaming are delegated to the configured Lavalink node.

## Optional providers

Sources and search capabilities depend on the providers and credentials configured by the service operator. Not every URL is supported.

> A provider without credentials or experiencing an outage can fail searches even when the bot and Lavalink are connected.
