# Messages

> Headless has three messaging workflows with different triggers and controls: messages when a member joins, replies to text, and persistent notices republished after channel activity.

## Choose the right trigger

Welcome runs when a member joins, Auto Responder matches incoming text against saved rules, and Sticky republishes its configured notice after someone posts in that channel. None of these modules is an hourly message scheduler.

## Independent configuration

Each module keeps its own server-scoped settings and permissions. Actor and bot permissions differ by module, and some commands distinguish prefix from slash access; consult the matching guide before changing rules or granting permissions to the bot.
