# Introduction

> Headless is a Discord bot for moderation, server protection, automation, and community tools. This guide describes Headless's own prefix, commands, and modules; it does not assume compatibility with another bot.

## Start with a module

Choose the workflow you need: moderation and security, private tickets, roles, messages, levels, or voice rooms. Each module has its own permissions and settings; enable only what your community will use.

## Commands and configuration

### Review or change the prefix

The default prefix is `.` and can be changed per server.

```headless-command Syntax theme={null}
.prefix
```

```headless-command Example theme={null}
.prefix
```

### Open help

Use `.help` to find registered commands; read the module guide before changing permissions or running destructive actions.

```headless-command Syntax theme={null}
.help [section]
```

```headless-command Example theme={null}
.help
```

Also works: `.help tickets`

## Dashboard and docs

Dashboard settings depend on the module. These guides link to specific routes and explain when a reference feature is not available in Headless.

## Steps

**1. Confirm the server and bot**

Make sure you are in the right server and that the bot has the minimum permissions for the module.

**2. Open the catalog**

Use `.help` or Discord's slash-command picker to find a registered feature.

**3. Test a workflow**

Configure a test channel and verify the result before announcing it to the whole community.
